日焼けしまくり・・・。

今日は一日中サーキットでインストラクターの仕事。凡そ１０人のグループが４つあり、３０分のセッションを各グループが２セッションずつの走行。セッション中は色んなコーナーに行って、走行ライン等を見るのでずっと外にいたせいかもの凄く日焼けをしちゃいました。サングラスも付けっぱなしなのでパンダ状態です。今回は日本人の選手が２人参加してます。

I was at the track all day today. There were 4 groups with approx 10 drivers in each group and each group had two 30min sessions today. I was out on the corners pretty much all day and I got a good sun tan by the end of the last session.... Also there are two Japanese drivers this week end which makes the job more exciting for me.

セッションが４時半にようやく終わり、そこからミーティング。レーシングスクールが最近MAZDAと契約したので新しいカリキュラム等の事で色々とミーティング。気がついたらサーキットを出たの７時半・・・。長い一日でした。明日もまた頑張りま〜す！！

All the session was done by 4:30pm but we had a meeting that lasted til 7:30pm. With the MAZDA involvement, there are many good things to come in the near future and I am looking forward to be part of the school new currculum. It's going to be another long day tomorrow...

Laguna Secaに到着

今日は朝起きて、ジムでトレーニング。お昼に家でラーメンを食べて、１時半に家を出発。LagunaSecaまでは凡そ５時間のドライブ。久しぶりのドライブでかなり疲れました・・・。ホテルに着いたら６時チョイすぎ。今日はホテルでご飯を食べて早目に寝ないと明日は６時起きです。明日からの３日間はLagunaSecaでSkipBarberRacingSchoolのレースのインストラクター。自分も卒業したシリーズですが、意外と思っていた以上にインストラクターするのって難しいんですよね。ドライバー一人のインストラクターであればその選手に集中できますが、１グループ１０人で４グループあるので４０人以上のドライバーに細かくアドバイスするのは難しいのでどうしても大雑把になっちゃいます・・・。でも、とりあえず週末の間は天気は良さそうなので、何よりです！！

Got up in the morning and went to the gym. Had ra-men for luch and off to Monterey. Left the house at 1:30PM and was in the hotel room at 6:30PM so it took me about 5hr with only one fuel stop. I will be here for next 3 days instructing for the Skip Barber Racing School Western Series Race. It is a lot harder to instruct at the school because there as about 40+ students and 10 in each group. Coaching for just one driver is not so hard because you can put all your attention into just that driver, but when you have multiple cars going through at the same time...it's almost impossible to give them precise advice. Nevertheless, the weather is looking good all week end and I am looking forward for that!!

ピットがブルー・・・。

最近は赤ちゃんが産まれてから、あまりピットにかまってあげれてないから、今日はなんだかピットはブルーです！？！しかも、今アメリカではペットフードの中にネズミを殺す毒が入ってる騒動で、ほとんどの柔らかい缶詰やパウチに入ってるタイプのドッグフードは売られてません・・・。勿論ピットが好きなタイプも買えなくて、昨日ペットショップへ行って新しいタイプを購入してみましたが、どうやらそれをお気に召さないようです。普通の犬だったらガッツクはずなのに・・・。

Since my focus has been to our baby lately, Pit has been really jealous for not getting any attention. And even worse, with all the pet food recalls that have been going on, one Pit's favourite food is not in the store and I had to go out an purchase a different kind of pouch food for him..which he didn't like.

しかも、外が寒いので妻が洋服を着させたらさらにブルー！不機嫌な所でワンショット撮ってみました！？！（笑）

Since it was a bit chilly...my wife put a sweater on him and he really didn't like that and stopped moving. It made it easier for the photo opp though...

今週末はLaguna Seca

今日は朝起きて午前中にジムでトレーニング。週末はLagunaSecaに行ってSkipBarberRacingSchoolのWestern Series Race最終戦でインストラクターのお仕事・・・。本当はセントピーターズバーグに行きたかったのに残念。ま〜先週末ホームステッドで色々と話をしているチームとは話せたからOKかな？！？

Got up in the morning and went to the gym. I am going to work for Skip Barber Racing School this week end as an instructor for the last round of Western Series race. I really wanted to go to St.Petersburg but I needed to work and earn some $$ for the baby... However, I did get to speak with the people that I needed to last week and there is not much point going to St.Pete.

しかし、先週末はサーキットで今週末もサーキット。やっぱりサーキットに行ったら車に乗りたくなっちゃいますね〜・・・。とりあえず、Lagunaではスクールカーをガンガンに走らせる事ができるけど・・・、でもやっぱりパワーある車に乗りたいっす！！！そうそう、最近は赤ちゃんが泣いた時にIndyのエンジン音の真似をすると泣き止むので、それを使ってイメトレしてます！？！（笑）

Being at the track two weeks in a row is painful not actually racing. But..working for Skippy, we get to put the school cars around the track which is fun although it's nothing like driving a high horsepoweres car. I am anxious to drive, but I have been doing a lot of image/mental training when my baby is crying!?! For some reason, he really likes the sound of an Indy engine when I imitate the sound!?!

Mongolian BBQ

今日はランチでMongolian BBQを食べました。思ったよりも美味しくてビックリ！！ファーストフードみたいな所ですが、好きな具材を選んで面と一緒に焼いて出してくれる所です。見た目はいたって微妙・・・、って思いましたが実際に食べてみたらなかなかいけてました！！Mongolian BBQって感じよりもジンギスカン風の焼きそばって感じでしたね！？！（笑）そう言えば日本でのジンギスカンブームってもうさっていっちゃったんですかね？！？

I had Mongolian BBQ for lunch today. It was actually pretty good...much better than it's appearance. I went to this joint in the mall, kind a like the fast food place which let's you pick your own ingredients and have them fried together on a round teppan plate. I was really amazed on how well it was made for the price...the place was actually called gingees kahn!?!

Indy開幕戦

昨日のIndyの開幕戦はつまらなかった〜・・・。コウスケは運悪くスピンしたSimmonsに絡まれクラッシュ・・・。Danのぶっちぎり優勝。あまり見所のあるレースではなかったな〜。しかし、Danicaがなんかピリピリしている様子。トップチームへ移籍したプレッシャーかな？！？

The IRL season opener was pretyy boring... Kousuke crashed his car getting collected by spinning Jeff Simmons and Dan was just unbeatable. Not many interesting points about the race. However, Danica must be in lots of pressure moving to AGR and with no excuse of not running up front.

今日は日曜日。ジムに行ってトレーニングをしながら、NASCARのCars Of Tomorrowのレースを観戦。なんか車の形は少しモダンになったかな〜って感じです。でも車に関してはちょっと賛否両論みたいです。しかし、NASCARのレースを改めて見るとコメントをしてる人の知識や、トラブル等が起こるとそのパーツをすぐに持ってきてわかりやすく説明する所はいいな〜って思いました。その辺もファンに馴染みやすい理由なのかな・・・？？

Went to the gym today and whatched the NASCAR'S Cars of Tomorrow debut race. It was an interesting race although I guess there are still in need for some rule improvements before they go full time with that car. Whatching the NASCAR race, I was amazed by the knoledge of the TV analyst and the announcers about the cars. And duing the broadcast, when there is a problem with a car's certain parts, they bring out the actual parts and explain the problem on camera so the viewers can visualize what's going on. May be that is the reason why the NASCAR fans are more familiar with the car, driver, and etc...

何とか無事に帰宅

昨日は１時過ぎまでサーキットに居て、夕飯を食べたのは２時頃・・・。ホテルの側のInternational House Of Pancakes(IHOP)しかやってなかったので、そこでベーコンエッグチーズバーガーを食べました。昨晩はけっきょくホテルの部屋がとれなかったので、カメラマンの斎藤ヒロ君の部屋に野宿。ヒロ君ありがとう〜〜！！

I was at the track until 1am last night. Since it was so late, we could only find IHOP that was opend to have dinner so we decided to eat there and I had a whopping bacon egg cheese burger!! Fortunately my friend Hiro let me stay in his hotel room and I was able to rest for about 1hr before I head to the airport.

部屋に戻って３時半頃にウトウト・・・。１時間くらい寝てそのまま起きて飛行場に向かいお昼過ぎに無事に家に着きました！！いや〜しかし今回は本当に弾丸だったな〜〜！！ぜんぜん寝れなかった・・・。さてさて、これからお家でテレビでINDYの開幕戦を観戦しま〜す！！

I finally got to sleeo at 3:30am for about an hour and off to the airport. Back in LA at noon and home now. It really was a hectic trip today.... Well I am going to whatch the season opener on TV, best seat other than the actual race car!!

今夜は徹夜？！？

今まだホームステッドのスピードウェイに居ます。現在はインディーの予選中。今年のホームステッドのレースは面白くなりそうです！まずは、IndyProSeriesで英記が予選３位！まずまずの滑り出しでしょう！！そして、インディーは今年から１００％エタノールになった事になり、エンジンは３．５Lにアップ。トルクが増えた分、多少のギヤ比の選択ミスでも差が出なかったり、今回のホームステッドのウィング角度は去年よりもあがってる為にダウンフォースの量も増えてるので明日の決勝はかなりのサイド・バイ・サイドのレースが見れそうです！！

Still in Homestead Speedway. The Indy Car qualifying is going on now.... It looks like it is going to be an interesting race tomorrow. Firt of all, my bro Hideki is staring 3rd for tomorrow's race. And than because of all the rule changes in Indy Car with 100% ethanol fuel, More rear wing angle, 3.5l engines with more torque, it will definately create close side by side racing!!

今日は予選が終わってからどうしよう・・・。実は今夜のホテルはとれてませ〜ん・・・。明日の朝のフライトは早いし、ホテルをとっても数時間しかないから何処かで野宿をするかって感じです！？！とりあえず頑張って徹夜ですね。（泣）

I don't really know what to do after the qualifying though. I could not find a hotel room tonight that was reasonable and since my flight is leaving so early tomorrow morning, I will have to camp out somewhere... I will probably crash in to my friend's hotel room.

マイアミに到着

昨日は飛行機が少し遅れながら、マイアミに到着。ホテルに着いてネットに接続しようとしたら、サーバーがおかしかったのか、ネットに接続できず・・・。仕方ないな〜と思い、１２時頃に寝床についたのですがなかなか寝付けずけっきょく、３時半頃まで寝れませんでした。

The flight was delayed in to Miami last night and I was finally in my room at 11pm. There was a problem with the Internet server and I was not able to connect to the net so I have given up and decided to hit the bed after midnight. However, I could not fall a sleep until 3:30am and that was frustrating....

今日は久しぶりにサーキットにきてます。いや〜やっぱり車を見ると乗りたくなっちゃいますね。今日は早速サーキットに着いてIRLの社長と話し合い。色々とアイディアをもらって某チームとIndy500について交渉。可能性がある所はどんどんつっつかないと！！パドックを歩いて、昔から自分の弟みたいに可愛がってる武藤英記に会って立ち話！彼にはぜひ頑張って欲しいですね！！皆も応援してやってください！！

Came to Homestead this morning...haven't been here for a while... but it's painful being at the track not driving. Since I am only here today, I waisted no time and chatted briefly with the COO of IRL. I also talked to several team owners about possible Indy 500 rides. I also bumped in to my friend Hideki Mutoh who I almost see as my younger bro since I know him since he was like 8years old. He will be racing in the Indy Pro Series and I think he will be very strong!!

さてさて、これからまたパドックをうろうろと歩いて色々と情報をゲットしてこないと！！

Well...I better go back to the paddock to speak with all the people to search for what is out on the market!!

明日からマイアミ

いよいよ明日からマイアミです！今日はかなりのびてきた髪の毛が鬱陶しくなってきたので、ばっさりカット！！やっぱ、ショートは楽で清々しくていいですね〜〜。しかし、飛行機の乗るのはなんだか久しぶりだな〜。明日も早朝フライトでマイアミに向かいますが、今回はやや弾丸のスケジュールです。久しぶりにサーキットへ行くのはちょっと楽しみです。

I am off to Miami tomorrow. Since my hair is getting longer and annoying...I decided to go for a hair cut today. Having a short hair really is easy and I have been getting same kind of hair cut for nearly 5years... may be time for a new hair style!?! Anyhow, I am looking forward to the trip this week end and to meet the teams to talk about some future plans.

今週末はマイアミでIRLの開幕戦。NASCARはBristolでCars of Tomorrowのデビューレース。このCars Of Tomorrowは色々と新しくなったルールによってデザイン＆制作された車で今年はこの新レギュレーションの車で何戦か戦います。色々とメーカーが力をかけてある意味TOYOTA的にはイコールコンディションになるので面白いかもしれませんね！？！

Speaking of racing, there will be a NASCAR race this week end using the Cars of Tomorrow. It should be an interesting race with the debut of the new cars with new regulations and it should definately level the playing field which should be a good thing for Toyota. Let's see how those car will react during the race!!

LAは雨

今日は久しぶりにロスで雨が降りました。今年は異常気象で降水量がかなり少ないみたいです。雨が降らなすぎて水不足になるのは良くありませんが、やはりロスは晴れてないとって感じですね。天気が悪いと不思議に憂鬱になってしまいますね。

It was a rainy day today in LA. We haven't been getting much rain this season and this should be a little bit of a break from the dry weather that we have been getting. Although... the raind doesn't match the LA atmosphere at all...

そうそう、最近は日本でBombardierの飛行機のタイヤがでなくて胴体着陸するニュースが多いですね〜！ん〜このBombardier社はIndianapolis Speedwayのコントロールタワーのスポンサーで以前はテキサスのレースの冠もスポンサーもやってましたが・・・。まっ、胴体着陸を問題なくできるって考えれば飛行機は一応安全ですかね！？！（笑）飛行機と言えば昨日LAXの空港に新しいAirBus380がきたみたいですね！！テレビでしか見てませんが驚きの大きさです！！早く乗ってみたいな〜〜！！

Last couple of days, there have been an airplane accidents specifically with Bombardier aircraft not being able to get the landing gear out. Fortunately, the plane has landed safely with out any incident but being familiar with the Bombardier name from the Pagoda Tower in Indianapolis Speedway and the title sponsor for the Texas race.... it's a bit of a bad news for the league. Speaking of aircraft, that new AirBus 380 is just wicked big!! I can't wait to board on that plane in the near future!!

大相撲

突然ですが最近は大相撲の春場所にはまってます！アメリカでもNHKの衛星放送で毎晩テレビで見てますが、今場所は面白いですね〜〜！！朝青龍が２連敗した事によって、だいぶ後半戦が見物ですね！！何よりも新人の栃煌山がいい相撲を取りますね〜〜！！眠いのを我慢して最近は毎晩見ちゃってます！！（笑）

Lately I've been in to whatching the Sumo spring tournament! I can whatch the torunament on the NHK sattelite channel here in US, and since it's broadcasted at midnight... I have been staying up pretty late to whatch the end of it when all the good wrestler comes out. Since the Yokozuna Asashoryu lost the first two battles, it has been an interesting tournament. Also the new comer Tochiouzan is really good and I wouldn't be suprise if he becomes the next Yokozuna in the near future!

週も明けて、今週末のマイアミ行きの為に今日は色々とプラニング。週末はレースの現場でなるべく多くの人と会って話ができるようにアポ取りなどなど・・・、あっと言う間に一日が終わってしまいました。

It ended up being a quick day today...I talked to several teams and people to set up an appointment to see while I was in Miami to make all the time efficient during my stay. I hope something will go forward from the meeting!!

週末もあっと言う間に終了・・・。

今週末もあっと言う間に終わってしまいましたね。いや〜しかし、本当にレース三昧でした！！Sebring１２時間はAudiの優勝！！F1はKimi、そしてNASCARはJimmie Johnsonが２週連続での勝利。週末を通して一番に印象に残ったのはLewis HamiltonとJuan Pabloのレース内容かな！？！

It was a real quick week end with all the races!! The Sebring 12hr was won by an Audi, F1 was no suprise...a domination by Kimi, and Jimmie Johnson ended up winning the NASCAR race two weeks in a row. What really caught my eye during the week end was performance of Lewis Hamilton and improvement by Juan Pablo!!

Juan Pabloはレース後半戦にずっと上位争いをしていて、１．５マイルオーバルもかなり極めてきたので今後の結果が楽しみです！！Lewis Hamiltonに関しては７〜８年くらい前に茂木で行われてたカートの世界大会にチラって会った事がありますが、その時も凄いインパクトでした。モータースポーツ版のTiger Woodsになるのは間違いないですね。でも、彼をDevelopment Programとして育てたマクラーレンが凄いな〜って思います。ドライバーとしての素質は勿論ですが、レース後のインタビューの受け答えに関しても、スポーツマン＆レーシングドライバーとしては完璧ですね！！もちろん英語が母国語って所もありますが、表彰台に乗ったKimi, Fernandoよりもインタビューの答えは賢いし本当に感心しました！！今後のF1のレースが楽しみですね！！

Juan Pablo had an excellent race today and being fast on 1.5mile oval is a good sign for more results in the near future!! Bit of an irony with Lewis because he was the one who replaced Juan Pablo's seat at McLaren.... but he was the most impressive over the week end. I had a pleasure to meet him in Motegi several years ago during the GoKarting World Cup event and I was really impressed with his attitude. It really shows the professionalism of McLaren to be behind his development program and I would not be suprise if he becomes the Tiger Woods of Motorsports!! Not only he is fast but he is smart and speaks really well! His post race interview was almost more intelectual than Kimi and Fernando...although he does have a bit of an advantage as English being his mother language. Nevertheless, he is the one to whatch during this season and I wish if I can have an oppurtunity to develop a type of driver like him once I get old... May be my son!?!

Sebring１２時間

今日はSebring１２時間のレースがやってます。朝起きてから早速テレビに釘付け。出だしからポルシェ勢はトラブルに見舞われAGRのAcura車がLMP2クラスのトップ！いや〜さすが、HPDが開発した車。レース前にもしっかり１２時間のデモレースをテスとで行った成果はしっかり出てますね！！レースも残り、３時間。最後がどうなるか楽しみ！！

The Sebring 12hr race is on the way and spent most of the day whatching TV today. The Porsche boys seemed to have some battery problems and AGR Acura is leading the LMP2 so far! All the testing and development that HPD has been doing is paying off especially with the mock 12hr race they had during the test couple of weeks ago. There is 3hr's left and it will be interesting to see how they finish!!

お昼過ぎはジムに行ってトレーニング。トレーニングをしながらジムのテレビでNASCAR Buschのレースを観戦。２週間連続でJeff Burtonの優勝！！今年はChildressのチームが調子いいですね〜〜。そしてそして、夜はF1の開幕戦！！マクラーレンVSフェラーリの戦いが楽しみです！！家の赤ちゃんもF1の音が好きみたいで、目を大きくしてみてます！！（笑）が、一日中レースを見てるので妻が・・・怒り気味！？！

I went to the gym after lunch and whatched the NASCAR Busch race in the gym monitor. Jeff Burton won the race 2 weeks in a row and Childress's team seems to have the package this year!! I am going to whatch the F1 race tonight and it will be interesting to see who wins the race with McLaren VS Ferrari battle!! My baby likes the sound of F1 engines...although my wife is getting tired of me whatching the race all day...!?!

Grand Central Market

今日はフルーツを買いに家の近くのGrand Central Marketに行ってきました。Grand Central Marketは家の近所にある市場。食料品はここで買うのは衛生上、少し怖いな〜って思っていましたが、前にトマトを買いに行ったら思った以上に美味しかったので今日はフルーツをゲットしに行ってきました。いや〜しかし安さに驚き！！オレンジ、苺、葱、マッシュールーム、葡萄にトマトを山盛り買ってな〜んと＄１５！！冷静に考えたらスーパーで買うより激安ですね！！

I went to the Grand Central Market to buy some fruits today. The Grand Central Market is just a block away from my house, and although I always hesitated to get produces there due to the fact of poor hygeine... I bought some tomatoes the other day and it was actually really good!! Therefore, I decided to try out there fruits today. I bought oranges, strawberries, green onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and some grapes and it all came out to be just $15!! It is a mega deal!!

さてさて、いよいよ週末ですね〜！よく考えたらSebring12時間＆F1のレースと同時にNASCARのレースがアトランタで行われるので、今週末はテレビに釘付けですね！！（笑）

I can't believe it's already into the week end... There is going to be the Sebring 12hr race and F1 as well as NASCAR race in Atlanta!! I am going to be a busy man in front of the TV all week end!?!

マイアミ行き決定

今日もLAは快晴。今日はいよいよ来週のマイアミ行きのプランをする為にネットで一番コストパフォーマンスの良い方法を検索。とりあえず、飛行機はマイレージでゲット。それからホテルはカメラマンの斎藤ヒロ君と同じホテルを予約。なんとかマイアミに行く事は決めました。いや〜しかし何でマイアミは最近高いのかな・・・？飛行機もホテルも・・・。カリフォルニア育ちの自分としては、フロリダは蒸し暑いし台風はくるし、何処がいいのか疑問！？！

Great weather again...you can beat that right!?! Today, I finally made my plan for the trip next week. I surfed the net and found the best way to do this trip. I bought my flight ticket using my miles and booked the same hotel as my buddy Hiro so we can share rental car. I'm still supried with how expensive Miami is with the hotel and everything. I guess they must be attracting more tourists now... coming from CA, I really don't understand what's so nice about FL being humid and etc...

そうそう、最近は赤ちゃんをお風呂に入れる事にチャレンジしてます。首がすわるまでは怖かったので遠慮して妻にやってもらっていたのですが、そろそろ安定してきたので自分もチャレンジ。昔は大泣きだったのが最近は気持ちいいのかずいぶんおとなしくしてます。ここ数日間でさらに大きくなって、目もよく見てるのかキョロキョロ周りを見たり、ニコニコ笑ったり、改めて人間だな〜って実感がわいてきます・・・、って人間ですからね！？！（笑）

Yesterday, I started to bath my baby. I was scared to do so until his neck was going to settle down. I thought it would be just about time to give it a try and he was being a very good boy!! I grew so much in last couple of days and it appears as he can see much more now. He looks around for many objects now and smiles a lot!! He really acts like an human being now needless to say it's no suprise!!!

今週末はSebring１２時間レース

今日もLAは快晴でした。今日も午前中にジムに行ってトレーニング。それから家に戻ってお仕事。５月も近づいてきて、IRLの開幕戦もついに来週なので色んな動きがでてきましたね。自分も急いで話を進めないと！！色々と情報をとりながら、ネットで今週末FloridaのSebringで行われてる１２時間の練習走行の情報をチェック。このレースでAcuraがLMP2クラスでデビューしますからね。やはりライバルはポルシェ・・・。耐久レースの経験が豊富な上に、走らせてるのがPenskeとDysonRacingなので面白い戦いになりそうです。シーズンが始まって毎週末に何かのレースが行われてるので、家に居ても楽しみです！！そう言えばF１も開幕ですね！！

Another great day with spectacular weather!! I hope it stays this way for a while. As usual went to the gym in the morning and came home to do some work. Since Month of May is coming up shortly and the IRL season opener is just next week, there are lots going on in Indianapolis although many of them is still in process of making the deal to happen. Speaking of racing, there is Sebring 12hr this week end. It will be the first race for the Acura LMP2 car and it will be interesting to see how they will do against the Porsche teams like Penske and Dyson Racing. Now the racing season is on the way, it's great to have races on TV every weekend!! By the way it's going to be a busy week end in front of the TV with the first F1 race too!!!

LAは相変わらず暑いです！

今日もLAは暑いです！ここ２日間は観測史上の最高温度を記録。今日は少し涼しくなりましたが、それでも３０℃を超える暑さ・・・。ま〜乾燥してからっとしてるぶん怠さはありませんが、花粉症が飛びまくりで目が少々つらいです。今日も午前中はジムでがっつりトレーニング！！身体の調子は相変わらずいいですね〜〜。それから、午後は家に戻ってちょこちょこお仕事。来週末のプランをたてないと。でも、飛行機代も高いしホテル代も高いし・・・、色々と悩んでます。ん〜効率よくコストをかっとする為に深夜のフライトで行って一泊し、翌日に戻ってくるってプランもありますが、これだと弾丸です。ま〜コストパフォーマンスを考えるとこのプランでいくかな・・・！？！

It was another warm day in LA today! The last two days were record temp and today it started to cool down a little...but still hot enough for me. Fortunately the humidity is not high so it's not all that bad but that is creating wildfires in Orange Co. Well, as usual I went to the gym in the morning and came home to do some work in the afternoon. Still need to plan everything for next week end's Miami trip but everything is so expensive with travel that I may have to do a very quick trip and back to save some costs. Worse comes worse...I could always take the red eye there, and stay one night and back next day!!

ちょっと早い桜？！？

今日は８時半から朝食ミーティングだったので、７時前に起きてピットの散歩。ミーティングの場所が少し離れていたので１時間前に出発。予想通りに渋滞にはまり、ミーティングにはバッチリのタイミングに到着。１時間半のミーティングを終えてきたく。インディーのシリーズの社長とメールをして、午後からは天気が良かったので家から３０分の所にあるBalboa Parkへ赤ちゃんを連れてお散歩をしに行く事にしました。が、今日もLAでは連日のRecord Heat！！今日も３０℃を余裕で超える暑さでした！！

Had a 8:30am meeting today so got up before 7am and took my dog for a walk. I anticipated to have some traffic so left the house penty early. My prediction was right and the traffic was pretty bad... but I made it to the meeting just on time. I came home, did some walk and since the weather was so nice, I took my baby for a walk around the Balboa Park and the lake. Although it turned out to be a record heat day!!

公園に着いたら、すこし早目ですが桜の花が咲いてました！！なので、携帯電話でスナップショットを撮ってみました。日本もそろそろお花見シーズンですが、と言う事は花粉シーズンの到来ですね！！LAも最近は花粉がひどくて花粉症の薬を飲んでます・・・。

Got to the park and saw the cherry blossom tree at almost full bloom!! Took a quick shot using my cell phone. Speaking of this time of the year...allergy season is here!! I really struggle with allergies and I am not looking foreward to that at all....

LAは夏？！？

今日はメチャ暑でした。まだ、３月だと言うのに、気温は３０℃オーバー！！しかも、なんと今年は２週間も早く夏時間の調整があり、今朝の２時に１時間時間が早く進んでサマータイムに突入！！って考えたらもう夏でもおかしくないですね。しかし朝から清々しかったので、ピットの散歩に行って午前中はジムでトレーニング。午後はスーパーに買い物に行って、そこでばったりBoss Sushiのカズさんに遭遇！！家に戻ってから、NASCAR Nextel Cupのレースを観戦して、今夜の夕飯は家ですき焼きで〜す。

It was a pretty hot day today!! I can't believe it's till march and we are getting over 90F!! Having said that, we have gone into summer time early this morning and we are some what in summer now I suppose.... Since it was a great day, I took Pit to a walk in the AM and went to the gym for some work out. Than went to the grocery store and bumped in to Kaz from Boss Sushi!! Came home and whatched the NASCAR Cup race and just about ready for a Sukiyaki Dinner...what a quick day!!

NASCAR Busch Race

今日は午前中に妻がホット・ヨガをやりに行ってしまったので、自分は家で子供のお守り。ミルクをあげて、さ〜寝たと一安心をしたりまたぐずりまくりで大変でした・・・。でも、子供は可愛いですね〜〜！！ようやく寝かせ付ける事ができたと思い、テレビをつけたら、Las Vegasで行われてるNASCAR BuschのレースがやっていたのでTV観戦。コースの路面を舗装し直したばかりでやけに滑るみたいでクラッシュだらけのレースでした！！

Since my wife went to try out the Hot Yoga this morning, I had to take care of the baby. I gave him milk but for some reason he was not satisfied with it and just couldn't stop crying... I finally got him to sleep and flicked on the TV to whatch the NASCAR Busch race from Vegas. Apparently the track just has been resurfaced and it was slick as an ice link and the race turned out to be a crash fest!!

その中でもLas Vegas出身のBusch兄弟が大活躍！しかもNASCARの面白いルールで、残り１０周の所でフルコーションがでたので、赤旗中断で全車を４コーナーの所で停止。こうする事によって、最後１０周を全力で戦えるからです。やっぱり見に来たお客さんからすると、イエローコーションで終わってしまうレース程、むっとする終わり方はないですからね〜！？！そう考えるとNASCARは本当にエンターテイメント性を考えてますね。ドライバー的にもフルコース・イエローでゴールするより、全速力でレースを終えれる方が気分もいいですしね！！

The race it self was dominated by the Kurt and Kyle Busch bros. NASCAR has a great rule that can stop the race temporarily at the end to avoid full course caution finish. That way it allows the driver to race hard until the finish. It's great for the spectators too because it really is dissapoining to whatch a full course yellow finish. Because of the heating issue, it is hard to implement this rule for the Indy Cars but I really think it can make the race more exiting at the end time to time.

あっと言う間に週末！？！

今日で金曜日。あっと言う間に１週間も終わってしまいましたね！！今日は午前中は色々とチームとコンタクトを取り合ってお仕事。銀行にささっと言って、それから昨日メンテに出した車をピックアップ。家に戻って、LagunaSecaで行われてるChampCarのテストの情報を集めながら、テレビでLasVegasのNASCARのテストを観戦。いや〜しかし、ChampCarは大丈夫かな？？シーズンが始まる前は２０台近くのエントリー予想だったのが、ふたを開いたら今回のテストでは１０台チョイしか、居ない状態・・・。新しい車も格好いいのにもったいないですね〜。ん〜そう考えるとIRLと合併する事がベストなのでは・・・！？！

I can't believe it's already Fri today!! It was a real fast week... Well I must be getting old. Anyhow, in the morning I contacted several teams to find out the latest and went to pick my car up to the car dealer. Than I surfed the net to get the info from the Champ Car test in Laguna while I whatched the NASCAR practice on TV from Las Vegas. Champ Car seems like they are still struggling to field the grid. I guess so far there are only about 10+ cars.... As we all are wishing for, I hope the merger will come through soon with the IRL.

今週末はとくに予定はないので、リラックスかな？？あれれ、そう言えばもう３月中旬に入りますが、東京はけっきょく今年は雪は降らなかったのかな・・・？そうなるとLAでは降ったのに、東京で降ってないなんてモロ異常気象ですね！？！（笑）

Hopefully I will have a relaxing week end. I was wondering if it ever snowed in Tokyo during this winter... It snowed in LA so if it didn't in Tokyo... that really means that we are up to a strange weather!!

車のメンテ

今日は朝起きて車を久しぶりにメンテしにディーラーに持って行きました。ずっとライトのアラームランプがついてるな〜って気になったので持っていたら、フォグランプが切れていたそうです・・・。まっ、LAではフォグランプを使う事はまずないので、いいかなと思いつつ、オイル交換も含めてメンテしてもらいました。ついでに、洗車もしてもらえてラッキー！！

Took my car for a maintenance check today. I had a alarm lamp going for awhile and discored that my fog lamp was out!! Not that you need a fog lamp in LA...but it's good to know that it wasn't anything major. I got a free car wash and a cofee...the dealer service is getting better and better!!

お昼はディーラーの側のサンドウィッチ屋で食べてから家に戻って色々とお仕事。茂木とインディーに向けても色々と資料を作ったりしないと。なんだか、いっぱい花粉が飛んでるのか目がチカチカ・・・。IRLの開幕戦に行くプランニングも少し大変。飛行機代は$900もするではないか〜〜・・・。今回も最後まで粘って最悪の場合はマイレージを使用するしかないですね。ん〜しかし、なんで飛行機代はこんなに高いのかな？？燃料が高いからな？？なんならジェットエンジンもエタノールを使って将来的にはコストダウンにならないかな〜・・・？？そうそう、エタノールと言えば最近はトウモロコシだけではなくて、他のプランとなどからも作る事ができる技術が開発されてるみたいです。トウモロコシだけに頼らずにすめば世界中の需要に応える事ができるようになるかもしれないのですね。

For lunch, I had a sandwich near the car dealer and came home to do some work in order to obtain some sponsorship for the Motegi and Indy race. I was trying to plan everything for the Homestead race and discovered that the air flight fare is over $900!! That's way too much for my budget... I hope that the jet engine's can soon use ethanol for fuel if that will reduce the fuel cost!?! Speaking of ethanol, I have read on the paper today that said ethanol can be made out of most plans and not only from corn starch. If that is the case...I don't think it wil be too long in oreder to supply enough ethanol for the world's demand which will be a good move especially for the environment!!

カイロ

今日はマラソン後の身体をメンテする為にカイロに行ってきました！実はマラソン前日に予約していたカイロが僕の勘違いで２日前だったみたいで、前回は予約をすっぽかしちゃったんです・・・（Jo先生ごめんなさい）。とりあえず、先生に低調に謝りつつ、今日はマラソンで痛めた右太股をみてもらったら、家に戻ってだいぶ楽になりました！！

I went to see my chiropractor today for the after care of my body from the marathon. Actually, I thought I had a reservation day before the marathon which happened to be 2 days before and I ended up skipping the appointment. Sorry Dr.Jo..... Anyhow, after the visit my thigh is almost back to normal condition and I think I am just about ready to do some hard training again.

カイロの帰りには近くのW.LAのイタリアンでパスタを食べて帰宅。赤ちゃんも一緒だったので、６時前にさっとご飯を食べてそのまま帰ってきました。いや〜でも子供ができると本当に生活のリズムが変わりますね〜〜！！前は８時前にご飯を食べる事があり得なかったのに！！でも、いい事ですね！！おっと、噂をすれば赤ちゃんが泣いてるので見てきま〜す！！

After the Dr Visit, I went to dinner to a near by Italian Restaurant in W.LA to miss the traffic. It's a big change in life style when you have a baby because I could have never imagine that I will be eating dinner at 6PM. In a way, as I get older I am going in to a healthier diet which must be good anyways. Well...my baby is crying now so I better go check him out!!

近所で爆弾

今日は昨日メッチャ早く寝てしまった為に、かな〜り早くから目が覚めてしまいました・・・。（笑）もう寝れんと思い、赤ちゃんのオムツを買えたりピットの散歩に行ったりして、午前１０時からは家族の健康保険に関してアドバイザーとのアポに行きました。いや〜しかし保険は高いですね・・・。でも、赤ちゃんの最初の１年は何かとかかりそうなので、ちゃんとしたプランに入らないといけませんからね。

I went to sleep so early last night that I ended up waking up way too early this morning. Since I could not fall a sleep any more, I changed my baby's diaper and plaed with him for a little while and took Pit for a walk. Than I had a 10am meeting with a insurance advisor about our health insurance plan. I think I need something that will cover enough for the baby...although we all hope that he will not be needing it, usually the baby will have a few doctor visits the us adults.

保険屋さんを出てから銀行に行って、その帰りに家に戻ろうとしたら隣の道が閉鎖！しかも、よく見ると警察がいっぱい居て、BombSquad(爆弾検査隊）もいて、どうやら隣のビルに不振な荷物があったのか、爆弾がある疑惑があったみたいで大騒ぎ。けょきょく何もなかったみたいで、終わりましたがでもある意味怖いですね・・・。まっ、何も怒らす一安心。

After the meeting, I went to the bank to deposit some money. While walking back to my house...the next street was closed due to a speculation of bomb in a building. Obviously the bomb squad was there but I guess there was nothing in the building that was harmful and the street did clear up pretty quickly. We are all relieved to hear that the zone was safe....but it's pretty scary to think about a possible bomb in your neighborhood!?!

リカバリーモード

今日は昨日のマラソンからリカバリーモードです。マラソン中に痛めて太股の回復の為に午前中は家でリラックス。午後から色々とPCでお仕事。あっと言う間に３月になってしまい、茂木やIndy500までもうチョイですもんね！！しかも、開幕戦に行くプランを立てようと思って、飛行機の値段を調べると激高！！ん〜今回もマイレージを使って行く事になりそう・・・。

Today was a recovery day from yesterday's marathon. My thigh is still in pain but it is much better now. In the PM, I started to check the price for the Miami flight to attend to the season opener. I was suprised with the price of the flight ticket...it costs me more to fly to MIA than Tokyo!! I guess I am going to have to use up my mileage for that ticket...

今夜は久しぶりにLA応援団長のカズさんが勤めるBoss Sushiに行こうと思います。お寿司を食べるのも久しぶりだから楽しみです！！今夜は美味しいお寿司をガッツリ食べて、早く回復して明日からまた猛トレーニングですね！！

Tonight I am off to Boss Sushi one of my favourite sushi joint where my friend Kaz works at. I haven't had sushi for a while so I am looking forward to it!! Hopefully, it's going to help me recover faster to get back in to my training mode for the race!!

マラソン完走

今日はLAマラソンの日です！朝は４時半に起きて、まずはユックリ入浴。それからフルーツをどっさり食べてクロワッサンを食べ、ピットを散歩に連れて行ってから、スタート地点へ出発。家の下の地下鉄の駅からUniversal Studioに行き、スタート地点で１時間待機。完璧な状況でスタート準備が整いました。しか〜し、去年は途中で何回もトイレに行きたくなってしまったので、今回はレース３０分前にしっかりすませておきました！！そして、８時３６分にマラソンスタート！！

It's marathon day today and got up at 4:30am. I took a lengthy bath, had loads of fruit with a croissant for breakfast, took Pit for a walk...than off to Universal Studio where the starting point is. Got there plenty early and had to wait there for about a 1hr. Made sure to go to the toilet just before the start since I had to stop several times last year for that. And at 8:36AM, the race began!!

今年も多くのランナーが参加しているので（凡そ４万人）、スタート直後の１kmはほとんど障害物競走。１kmを超えた時点でようやくマイペースで走れると思ったら、突然後ろから“ロジャー”って声をかけられて、こんな所で誰やねん・・・って思ったら、毎年LAマラソンに出走している米HONDAの高見さんでした！（笑）かるくご挨拶をして、そのままマイペースで走り続け、気がついたらあっと言う間にHollywoodに到着。今日はメチャメチャペースがいいじゃんって気分はノリノリでした。昨晩から少し足首の痛みが気にはなっていましたが、最初の１０kは50分を切るペース、ハーフは１時間50分前後・・・、３０km地点でも２時間４0分くらいで到達していたと思うので、これは余裕で４時間を切れるな〜と思っていました！！

As like every year, there were plenty of people running the marathon today(Approx 40,000). Therefore, the first 1km will be almost as tyring to pass all the walkers. As I just got through with running at my steady pace, I bumped in to Mr.Takami from American Honda!! He also runs the marathon every year and it was great to see him!! I had a great pace going at early stages and when I realized, I was already passed Hollywood just in several minutes... My first 10km was done in approx 45min, Half at 1hr 45min, and 30km at well below 2hr 45 min. I was sure that I was going to make it under 4hr!!

が３０kmを超えた瞬間、突然の悪夢・・・。いきなり右太股の筋肉がつってしまい、急遽ストレッチの為にストップ。軽くストレッチをして、改めて走り始めようと思いましたが、太股の筋肉はつったままで走りたくても走れず・・・。が、ここで諦めたら男じゃない！！なんとか、足を引きづりながら歩き続け、太股の筋肉が解されてきた時点でまたランニング再開。とは言っても５km以上は歩いてしまったので、タイムも大幅にロス。本当に残念・・・。マラソンはやはり３０kmからですね〜。でも、いじでも去年の記録を更新しようと最後は気合いで走り（止まる様な速度で・・・）最終的には４時間２５分くらいでした。まっ、去年よりは４分くらい速かったからよしとするかな〜〜？！？でも、３０kmまでは本当に良いペースだったので残念です。来年はまたリベンジだな！！

Unfortunately, as I got passed the 30km mark, I ended up pulling my right thigh mussle and was in real pain. I had to stop to strech out my muscle but had to walk for over 5km to be able to run again. I was gutted since my pace was really good until that point. However, we all know that the last 10km is the most hard and painful part of the marathon.... At that point, I figured the leat I have to do is do a better time than last year. I crossed the line 4min better than my previous run and I had done 26.2miles in 4hr and 25min!! I am coming back next year to get under 4hr!!

しかし、色々と考えると今年のコースは去年のコースより過酷だったのかな・・・？タイムを見ていても皆かなり落ちてるし・・・。そう考えたらまだ良い方かな？？ってプラス思考に考えさせて頂きます！！（笑）それより、今日メキシコで行われたNASCAR BuschのレースでJuan Pabloが勝ちましたね〜！！さすが、元F１ドライバー！！余裕とはまでいいませんが、Juan Pablo的には他のドライバーは“out of 眼中”だったのでは！？！

Looking at the result. I think this year's course was a bit tougher... since most people did slow down compare to last year's time. Well...that will make me feel better at least. By the way, Juan Pablo ended up sweeping the field in Mexico today for the NASCAR Busch race!! It was obvious that he was going to be quick but I think that turned a lot of attention from the US NASCAR fans to look at open wheel drivers!!!

いよいよ明日はマラソン

今日は起きてからピットをグルーマーへ連れて行き、洗ってもらいました。ピットもすっきりして帰宅。ランチはガーデナの喫茶店でカレーライス。意外と美味しかったのでビックリ！！明日はマラソンで家の側のゴールラインでは着々と準備が進んでます。ゴールラインでは無料でマッサージをしてくれたり、色んな出店があったりするのでそのテントをはったりしています。

Took my dog "Pit" to the groomer today since it's been a month since I last washed him. Than went to Gardena to have lunch. I had curry for lunch and it was actually pretty good!! As I came home, the streets were getting shut down for tomorrow's marathon where they provide free massage as well as setting up tents for the vendors.

いよいよ２回目のマラソン。今日は家でリラックスして明日の朝に備えて早目に寝ないと・・・。明日は６時半頃に出発なので、４時頃には起きないと！去年は走ってる途中にトイレに行きたくなってしまったので、今年は早目に起きてトイレコントロールをしないと！！ある意味レースの体調管理と一緒ですからね！！（笑）では、明日のマラソン頑張ります！！

For my 2nd marathon, I must prepare my self just like a race. I need to get to bed early, get up early, and I need to make sure that I get down with using the bathroom before the start of the race since I ended up losing some time last year for going to the toilet. Well, I hope the weather will be nice tomorrow and I am looking forward for a good run!!

週末はLAマラソン

今週末はLAマラソンです。それに向けて今日は２０kmのランニング。午後はコンベンションセンターに行って、受付もすませてきました。本当はスタート地点がUniversalStudioに移動して面倒だからやめようかと思っていましたが、冷静に考えたら地下鉄ですぐにスタート地点まで行けて、ゴールは家の近所なので出走する事に決めました。

Since there is LA marathon this sunday, I went for 20km run today. Than I went to the convention center to do my registration for the marathon. I wasn't going to run this year until I found out that getting to universal studio was no brainer with subway. And the finish line is just a block away from my house I figured I should give it another try!!

最近は走り込んでて、少し足首の痛みもありますが、今年もがっつり走ります。去年は３０kmの地点からちょっと歩いちゃったので・・・、今年は去年得た経験をいかしてタイムアップできるように頑張ります！！しかし、去年のマラソンから早１年。ビックリですね〜〜！！明日はカイロに行って足腰のフルチューンアップを行ってこないと！！（笑）

Although my ankle is still in some pain when I go for long runs... I will do me best this week end. Last year everything was going well until the 30km point, than it went sour after when my ankle started to hurt really bad. Hopefully I can reduce my time from last year by not stopping!! I am off to chiropractic tomorrow to give my body a full tune up to be 100% ready for the marathon!!

あっと言う間に３月

今日でもう３月ですね〜。年が明けてから既に２ヶ月が経ってる事に驚き！！年々時間が経つのは本当に早くなってきますね〜〜！！ん〜とくに年をとったな〜って思うのが、コンピューターのワイヤレス・マウスの電池がなくなった時・・・。あれ、つい最近取り替えたばかりなのに、も〜ないのかよ〜〜って思いつつ、最後に取り替えたのは実は３ヶ月くらい前なんですよね！？！

I can't believe it's already March. That means 2 months have been passed by since the new year...obviously!?! I feel like getting old especially when I'm changing the batteries of my wireless mouse for my PC. I would always think..."gosh I just changed this couple of weeks a go", but realize that it has been almost 3 month when I last changed them.

今日はジムで５km軽くながしのランニングで終了。あと１０分くらい走ろうかなと思いつつ、急に腹痛に襲われジムから部屋まではダッシュでした！？！（笑）今夜は妻が友達と会食に行くので一人で赤ちゃんのお守り・・・。ん〜グッスリ寝てるといいけど。でも、毎日一緒に居られるのも今のうちだし、茂木やインディーの時期になったら大忙しだから今のうちに色々と一緒に居てあげようっと！！

Went to the gym as usual but after 5km of running, my stomach started to ache so I came home and relaxed for he whole afternoon. My wife is going out to dinner tonight with her friend and I will be looking after the baby by my self tonight... Having said that, I guess it will get busy in couple of weeks with all the travel and now would be the best time to dedicate my time towards him!!

眠ッ・・・。

昨晩は赤ちゃんの期限が悪かったのか、ずっと泣いたり起きてたりでやや睡眠不足です・・・。ん〜眠いです。ここへきて、子育ての大変さを改めて実感。でも、本当に赤ちゃんは大きくなったな〜〜！いつのまにか家のピットやマリモ（猫）よりも重くなってるから長時間ダッコしていると腰にきますね〜！？！

The baby was up crying almost all night and didn't get as much sleep as I wanted... Tough night...but I'm sure things will just get better as time passes. Having said all that, the baby is getting bigger every day and he weighs more than our dog & cat now!!

そうそう、話はぜんぜん変わりますが、Nintendo DSのMario Kartで最近はタイムアタックにはまってます。つい最近ファンメールを頂いて、そこの息子さんはマリオが琢磨でルイジが僕だそうです。ついでに、ピーチはダニカで、ヨッシーは緑だからカナーン、今まで自分もずっと使っていたキャラのワリオはエリオだそうです！子供の発想って面白いですよね〜！！が、そのアドバイスを聞いて早速ルイジを使って猛特訓！！すると、な〜んとルイジを使うとどんどんコースレコードを更新！！アドバイスありがとうございました！！！

I have been playing the Nintendo DS Mario Kart lately when I go to the bathroom and trying to break the track record in the time attack mode. I just recieved and fan mail several days a go stating that their kid is playing Mario Kart as if Mario was Takuma Sato, Luigi will be me, Peach as Danika, Yoshi as Tony Kanaan and Wario as Helio. It's amazing what kid has in mind but I took that advice and played the game using Luigi. Suprisingly, I started to break all the track record using Luigi and it happened to be the best character that fits my style!! I guess I have to thank the fan as always for such a great advice!!!
