皆さん今日は。今はインディカー・シリーズ第２戦でセントピーターズバーグに来ています。

Hello to all my friends out there. I am currently in St.Petersburg for the Rd.2 of the Indy Car Series race.

今回もUS Racingでレポートやっています。ラジオでのトークがメインですが、ぜひ聞いて下さいね！！

As usual, I am reporting for US Racing website in Japan. Please check it out if you can understand Japanese.

しかし、クルマを走っているのを見ていると自分も乗りたくなりますね〜！チームやシリーズのスタッフからも、“５００は乗れそう？”って皆に聞かれるし、何とかスポンサーを獲得してインディ５００に再チャレンジしたい所です。インディ５００は僕にとっても、本当に特別な意味のあるレースなので、絶対にでるぞ！！

Well...it's tough being at the track and not driving the cars. Everyone is kind to ask me the question about the possibility to drive the car again this year during Month of May, and that actually gives me extra energy to work harder to be back in the car soon. Indy 500 is a special race for me and hope to have another go at it!!

春ですね！

皆さん、日本もでも桜の開花しはじめたみたいで、いよいよ春がきましたね。ロスでは週末に、ダウンタウンから３０分程の所にあるBalboaParkに行き、花見をしてきました。

I guess the spring is officially here with the blooming of the Cherry Blossom trees. On Sunday, we decided to go to Balboa Park to check out the Cherry Blossom's.

ロス界隈では、唯一の桜の花見スポットですかね？！？週末は多くの人が桜を見に来ていました。来週末には散ってしまいそうなので、今年は見に行けて良かった〜。日本の桜並木通りのような迫力はありませんが、桜をみるのはなんだかいいものですね〜。

Balboa Park is just about the only park with Cherry Blossom trees near LA that you can go casually with your friends and family to enjoy. There were many people at the park on the week end because the tree was close to being full bloom. It is unlike the Japanese Cherry Blossom Streets...but nevertheless it's always to have an opportunity to see the tree blooming when they only do that for a short time of period during a year.

ちなみに、桜の花が咲いているかTwitterで検索して、状況をチェックしました。便利ですよね〜、知りたい情報がすぐにわかると。色んな活用法があるなと改めて実感！

BTW, I was able to check the status of the trees whether if it was blooming or not on Twitter. What an great tool to have when you need an immediate answer!

ロスに戻りました。

昨日、無事にロスに戻ってきました。レースが終わった晩は朝の3時まで仕事をして、翌日はユックリしようと思っていたのですが、せっかくブラジルに来ていたので、夜のフライト時間までは時間があったので、市内観光をする事にしました。

I am finally back in LA. After the race on Sunday, I had to work until 3am and was thinking to just chill at the hotel on Monday but decided to tour the town before my flight.

ブラジルは治安が危ないと皆に言われていたので、恐れ恐れ街にでたのですが・・・。でも、新たな発見や経験が色々とできて、ある意味ハングリーさがよみがえった感じで、ブラジルに行けて良かったです！

I heard that Sao Paolo is not a safe city to stroll around by your self so I was extra cautious when I went in town. I was real happy to have an opportunity to see different places of the town as I love learning about different cultures. It gives me another angle of perspective to life and sometimes makes me grow as a person.

また来年もぜひ行きたいな〜って思ってます。でも、次回行くまでにはもうちょっとポルトガル語を覚えてからいきたいな〜！

I would love to have an opportunity to visit Brazil again next year. Except, I would like to learn a bit more Portuguese when I go there next...

サンパオロの渋滞は最悪です・・・。東京の渋滞なんてもんじゃないです。

The traffic in Sao Paolo is miserable, not even close to the traffic in Japan.

でも、高速道路のど真ん中で充電器や飲み物が売っているので便利？！？(笑）

Good thing is, when you're cell phone battery is out, you can buy a charger in the middle of highway traffic!?!lol

この雰囲気はロスとあまり変わらないな〜。

サンパオロには日本人移民がたくさん住んでいます。リベルダージと言う地域は、今では東洋人地域と言われているみたいですが、とりあえず行って鳥居の写真をカシャ。ついでにブラジル土産のプロポリスも買っちゃいました。

Here is a pict of Liberdade area which is a huge asian community in Brazil. There is a huge Japanse presence in City on Sao Paolo and I didn't feel like a foreigner being in this town.I also bought some Propolis which is health supplement which can be extracted in Brazil.

ブラジル開拓者(バンデイランティス）の記念像です。観光スポットだろうと思って行ったら、誰もいませんでした・・・。（笑）

Went to see the Monumento as Bandeiras. Thought it would be a big tourist spot but we were the only one there....

スナックにはサウガード。ブラジルのピロシキみたいなもんですかね。

Had Salgado for snack.

最終日のランチは現地の人達が集まる食堂で食べました。お米に豆や、肉の煮込みです。メチャ美味しい〜！ブラジルに住めるわ〜！！

Went to have lunch at a joint where local goes to. The rice and beans and all kinds of meat were just fantastic! I really think I can live in Brazil!!

開幕戦終了

今日はブラジル・サンパウロで、インディカー・シリーズの開幕戦が行なわれました。今年は全戦US Racingの仕事で現場に行く事になり、現場からはビデオレポートとして、色んな情報をお届けする事になっています。週末の間は、気になる情報を探して色々と撮ってアップしてみましたが、如何だったでしょうか？

The Indy Car Series opener from Brazil has just finished and I am back in the media center making the video footage for US Racing website from Japan. I try to find as much interesting stuff that you can't see unless you actually get here in order for the viewers to have more idea on what's going on during the race week end.

さすがにドライバーの立場として、他のドライバーにインタビューするのはちょっぴり気まずいです・・・。（泣）でも、現場にいかないとわからない面白い内容をもっといっぱいアップしていこうと思います！

It is bit difficult for me to interview drivers...I'll say it's awkward. Especially since I know how they feel when things are not going well, but I still try my best to find the right time to talk to the drivers, so the viewers in Japan can have speedy information.

レースはかならいあれましたね〜。日本人選手はリタイヤで終わってしまって残念。でも、Ryan Hunter-ReayとVitor Meiraが表彰台に乗ったのは、元チームメートとしてなんだか嬉しかったですね。

The race was real crazy! Both of the Japanese drivers race ended prematurely but I was happy to see Ryan Hunter-Reay and Vitor Meira finish on the podium especially that I was there team mate in the past.

さてさて、これから決勝の動画も仕上げないと。昨晩はアップ途中に自分が横になっていたら、コンピューターもスリープしてしまい、気がついたらデータのロードが途中で中断していました。仕方なく再度アップして寝れたのが２時・・・。

Well, time to get back to work now. I had a miserable sleep last night because I fell a sleep for few minutes when I was uploading the file using Internet, and my PC also fell in to sleep mode...and I ended up having to re-upload everything. I ended up getting to sleep at 2am so hopefully we get things done earlier tonight.

ん〜この生活は辛い・・・。早くドライバーの立場としてサーキットに戻るぞぃ！！

All in all...it sucks being at the track not driving! I hope to be able to get back in to the seat real soon!!

ブラジル到着

ロスを出発して、凡そ１５時間でサンパウロに到着しました！いや〜長旅だったな・・・。ブラジルは暖かいですよ〜！！初めてブラジルに来ているのでワクワクしています。が、治安の問題はあるので、あまりサーキットの回りは出歩かない方がいいよと言われています。

Left LA and it was just about 15hr trip to Sao Paolo, and I have made it safely to Brazil. It was a long trip but the weather is great and I am happy to be able to visit Brazil for first time of my life.

今日はサーキット内にあるホテルにチェックインして、サーキットの下見をしてきました。まだ作業中で土曜までに間に合うのかが心配・・・。それ以上にサーキットはメチャメチャバンピーでグリップもしなさそうなので、ドライバーにとってはかなりトリッキーなコースとなるでしょう。

After checking in to the hotel, we went to check out the track. They are still working on the grand stands and corners and am a bit worried if they would really get everything done before Saturday AM. The track looks real bumpy and slippery and looks to be handfuls to the drivers!

夕飯はUS Racingのスタッフと、ヒデキと一緒に早速シュラスコを食べに行きました！美味かった〜！！毎日食べれますね。（笑）

Well, for dinner, I went out with the staff from US Racing and also Hideki Mutoh to a Chuhascarria Restaurant. The food was excellent and I am really looking forward to the weekend!

今週末に開幕

３月に入り、レースシーズンもいよいよ今週末から再会ですね！今週末はブラジルでのインディカーの開幕戦に、バーレーンではF1の開幕戦。どっちも楽しみですね〜！！

We are finally starting to kick off the 2010 racing season this week end. There is the Indy Car season opener from Brazil and also the F1 race in Bahrain.

僕は水曜日にブラジルに出発し、今回もUS Racingのレポートで行ってきます。今回はブラジル初めてですが、ちょっぴり楽しみです。コロンビアには２００５年に行ったのですが、南米はご飯も美味しいですし、本当に楽しみです。でも、仕事で忙しくなりそうだから、エンジョイしている暇もなさそう・・・。（泣）

I will be leaving to Brazil on Tuesday and will be reporting for US Racing again. It will be my first time going to Brazil and am really looking forward to it. I've been to Colombia in 2005 and food and people are so great in S.America that I can't wait to get there. Having said that, sounds like I'll be real busy all week end so there may not be a lot of time for me to enjoy the stay much.

大根の葉

今朝は６時起き。なんだか、歳をとったせいか、時差ボケなのか、最近は起きる時間が徐々に早くなっています！？！もうオヤジだな・・・。（笑）

Woke up at 6am. I'm wondering if it's jet-lag or is it me getting older...as I keep waking up earlier by the day.

さて、朝っぱらから“食”についての話ですが、皆さん大根の葉っぱはどうしてますか？アメリカではなかなか質の良い大根が買えないのに、去年だったか日本のニュースで大根が大量に収穫しすぎて捨てている、と言うニュースを見た時はおったまげました！

Well...I'm going to talk about food although it's still early in the morning. Today's theme is about Daikon which is a Japanese radish. It's very hard to find a good quality daikon here in US and I was very surprised when I saw a news in Japan last year, that said the farmers were throwing away tons of Daikon because they have harvested a lot more than needed...

こちらの日系スーパーで大根を買う時は、あえて葉っぱが沢山付いていて鮮度が良さそうなのを選びます。んで、その葉っぱをどうするかと言うと、フライパンで煎って水分を飛ばし、鰹節と胡麻油をいれて、最後に醤油をかけて、「大根の葉ふりかけ」を作っています。

When I but Daikon here at the Japanese Super Market here in LA, I look for not only a fresh quality daikon, I also make sure that there is a lots of leaves on it. The reason why I choose the ones with lots of daikon leaves is because I love making daikon furikake, which you can make by pan frying the leaves and adding bonito flakes and some sesame oil and soy sauce.

このふりかけでご飯３杯はいけちゃいますよ〜！（笑）ぜひ葉っぱは、捨てずに食べましょ〜！

You can eat at least 3bowls of rice with the Daikon Leaves furikake! It's hard to explain how it tastes but definitely worth a try!!

もう３月

今日で３月に突入しましたね。あれっ、２月は何処に行ったんだ〜って感じです。（笑）
日本からアラバマに行き、２日間のテストを視察して、ようやくロスに戻ってきました。

I can't believe it's already March. Whatever happened to February?? The time just flew when I was back in Japan...than to Alabama to watch the Indy Car test...and finally glad to be back home in LA.

アラバマではテストを見ながら、原稿を書いたり、仕事の合間を縫ってチームと交渉したりで大忙しでした。インディ５００まであと２ヶ月と考えると、急ピッチで色んな交渉を進めないといけません。

The test in Alabama was real busy. Although I was not driving...I had to do a lot of media work while I talked to several team owners to discuss about the possibilities for the 500 and Indy Japan race. Month of May is coming in a hurry so I better up my pace on negotiations with my sponsor and teams.

今月は修羅場だな〜。って何時も修羅場ですが・・・。（笑）では、今月も全力で頑張っていきます！！

It's a tough time as always...but will be giving my best on trying to get secured as usual!!
